The Farmhouse and its origins

The history behind La Felicina can be easily summed up by these words: love for the land, taking chances, being brave and sharing the adventure with the loved ones.

Dario Cerrato and his wife Margherita have built this homely haven to venture outside their comfort zone and to pay homage to the values and tradition of Dario’s heritage, since his family was originally from the Langhe region. Hence the decision to call the agricultural holding La Felicina, by sharing the same name of Dario’s mother.

It was 2006 and the XX Winter Olympic Games had just finished. The atmosphere in Turin was beautifully electric and the Cerrato family was still living on the hills outside of Turin.

Dario and Margherita set out looking for a farm for their daughter Roberta, where her passion for horses could express itself and where she could transform it into a job.
It was March 2006 when they first saw what, after a lengthy renovation, would have then become La Felicina. It was love at first sight.

The farmhouse is now completely renovated and comprises of bedrooms for the guests, communal spaces for meals or meetings, and even a swimming pool area.

Complimentary breakfast is served to all guests, pampered with a vast choice of home made cakes prepared every morning by Dario and Margherita, fresh fruit/veggies from the farm produce, cheese and ham from local farms. Guests are welcome to enjoy their breakfast in the renovated barn, which features a state of the art kitchen area which can be booked for cooking shows and events for the guests.

The barn is next to a bespoke infinity pool that overlooks the vineyard and benefits from constantly clean water thanks to low salt electrolysis process.
La Felicina is the ideal location for company events, wedding receptions and private parties, thanks to the collaboration with local catering services. Vast parking space, which can also be covered, will welcome the guests’ means of transport.
And for all the golf lovers, discounts of green fees for local golf courses are provided upon request.

The Farm Holding

The land comprises of twenty hectares of countryside with vineyards, hazelnuts, woods and meadows.
The biggest priority at the beginning was to bury the electricity and telephone cables, because the new vineyard had to be freed from the “embarrassing signs of civilization”. As you access “La Felicina”, you are surrounded by beautiful and rich vineyards of Nebbiolo and Barbera.

The farm focuses also on extensive cultivation of hazelnuts (about 10 hectares) and produces the renowned trilobed hazelnut from Piedmont.

The woods surrounding the property are the source of the wood used to heat the farm, and harbour the world-renown paths to find the delicious white truffle (trifula bianca). The farm is closely linked to the holding, as the Cerrato family and their guests have the opportunity to consume the natural products of the farm: fruit and vegetables treated with zero pesticides and the eggs of hens exclusively fed with birdseed.

La Felicina also features a custom-made shed for agricultural tools and machines, which is integrated with a 40 KW roof of photovoltaic panels that provide sustainable electricity to the whole farm.

The Horse Boarding

Roberta takes care of the four-legged guests, which are pampered and fed with the hay produced by the holding. The happy horses are enjoying the last years of their successful careers (most of them are former champions) within green paddocks and meadows, with wooden houses to shelter. It is an unmissable and scenic photographic opportunity!
